Amidst the devastating aftermath of the Vietnam War, I made a life-altering choice that would redefine my very existence: I took an enormous leap into the unknown, seeking refuge in America—a land whose culture and way of life were foreign to my awareness. With limited English skills and a profound yearning for a peaceful, purposeful, and fulfilling second chance at life, I embarked on a challenging journey filled with hope and uncertainty.

For over 10 grueling years, I confronted relentless challenges, disappointment, and hardships. Trapped in low-wage jobs, I felt stuck in an endless cycle. I can still vividly recall my first job, which required me to communicate over the telephone. I shed countless tears as I struggled to understand others, enduring unkindness and impatience. Climbing the corporate ladder proved to be an uphill battle, as I struggled with understanding the complexities of office politics, corporate cultures, and the overwhelming demands of multiple projects within limited timeframes. In addition, life outside of work presented its own set of challenges, as I grappled to acclimate to the Western way of life.  To say that American life was a complete 180-degree shift from my upbringing would be an understatement. American life didn’t just differ from my upbringing; it entirely reshaped my world.

Having experienced the harsh realities of the Vietnam War and the racial discrimination, my family and I were forbidden from interactions with Westerners in Vietnam. Consequently, we were ill-prepared for the journey that lay ahead when we immigrated to the United States. Upon our arrival, we were thrust into the unfamiliar and dramatic challenges of survival and success in a foreign Western culture. Even to this day, I still distinctively recall the culture shock and profound hardships my family and I endured in order to establish ourselves in this new land. I felt perpetually confused and frustrated by the stark differences in people’s behaviors and customs, unable to comprehend why things were done so differently from what I had known. For instance, in Vietnam, it was customary to politely decline an invitation to lunch, dinner, or an event twice before accepting it on the third offer. Unaware of the cultural nuances, I adhered to this practice for years in the United States, wondering why I never received a third invitation as I had in my native land. After struggling for years to make new friends and live in isolation, I began to question whether my exuberant and cheerful personality hindered my ability to integrate and thrive. It wasn’t until much later that I realized I needed to embrace a new way of life.

In the face of overwhelming challenges that bombarded me daily, my dream of a fulfilling career and a life filled with happiness, peace, and vibrant health seemed distant, almost out of reach.

In the depths of despair and the frustration of slow progress, a revelation struck me like a bolt of lightning. It became crystal clear that to realize my dreams of a rewarding career and a life brimming with happiness, serenity, and robust health, I needed the wisdom and guidance of those who had already achieved similar heights.

Fueled by an unwavering determination, I actively sought out the invaluable assistance of those who had unlocked the secrets to success. Their unwavering belief in my abilities, combined with their steadfast support and expert guidance, propelled me forward at an astounding pace. Moreover, amidst this extraordinary journey, I discovered my soulmate, creating a life of profound happiness, peace, and tranquility that I had longed for.
